This classic sneaker was born after ANATOMICA developed an original last and went through 12 sample iterations.
Because we prioritize fitting above all else, we had not previously offered these for online sale, but with the completion of our "paper measurement sheet" that allows you to measure your feet at home by yourself, they are now available in our official online shop for the first time.
As the term "SCIENTIFIC SHOE FITTING" inscribed on the insole indicates, the shoe features an "asymmetric inside-straight, outside-curve" shape characteristic of orthopedic footwear.
The arch of the foot is held securely, and there is extra room (toe spring/allowance) in the toe area, creating a stress-free fit. Since these shoes have extra toe room, ideally, your toes should not be hitting the front. The perfect size is one where you feel more room in the toes than in the shoes you normally wear, while also feeling the hold in your arch.
We employ the "vulcanized construction" method, which is rarely used nowadays. Instead of stitching the canvas upper to the rubber sole, they are bonded together under pressure to achieve a soft, comfortable fit that feels closer to being barefoot.
※Regarding the measurement method using the "measurement sheet"
The measurement sheet is provided at the end of the product images; please download it.
For details on how to measure, please watch the video availablehere.
Additionally, if you are unsure about your size, we also accept inquiries by phone at our stores.
If you already own a pair or have been measured at one of our directly managed stores, that size should be correct.
What you need: Paper measurement sheet, tape, pen, box-shaped object
1. Print the paper measurement sheet (Please print on A4 paper at "Actual Size." If the print size is shifted, the measurement values will also be incorrect.)
2. Fold the measurement sheet along the "guide line" (valley fold).
3. Place a box-shaped object (a stack of books or magazines will work) against a wall, align the valley-folded side of the measurement sheet with it, and tape it to the floor.
4. Align your heel with the "guide line." If measuring your left foot, align the inside of your foot along the vertical "guide line." While doing this, stand naturally with both feet together and look straight down. Use a pen to mark the point indicated by the longest part of your foot. (Please be careful not to hurt your toes.) This is your foot length. If you lean forward too much or lean back, you may choose the wrong size.
5. Measure the other foot as well, as most people have a size difference between their left and right feet. Measure both feet and choose the size based on the longer one. If you are concerned about foot width or instep height, please be sure to contact us. We recommend taking a photo from directly above and sending it with your inquiry. Depending on your foot width and instep, we may recommend going up or down a half size from the measurement indicated by your foot length.
