This classic sneaker was born after ANATOMICA developed an original last and produced 12 different samples.
Because we prioritize fitting above all else, we have never sold these online before. However, now that we have created a "paper measuring sheet" that allows you to measure your feet at home by yourself, they are making their debut in our official online shop.
As the term "SCIENTIFIC SHOE FITTING" on the insole suggests, these sneakers feature an "asymmetric, inside-straight, outside-curve" shape characteristic of orthopedic shoes.
The shoe holds your arch, while the toe box provides extra room (allowance). This creates a stress-free fit. Since the shoe is designed with this allowance, the ideal fit is one where your toes do not touch the front. The perfect size is one that feels roomier at the toes than your usual shoes while providing a secure hold at the arch.
We use the "vulcanized method," which is rarely employed nowadays. Instead of stitching the canvas upper to the rubber sole, we heat-press them together to achieve a softer, more barefoot-like comfort.
*How to use the "measuring sheet"
The measuring sheet is included at the end of the product images; please download it.
For instructions on how to measure, please watch the detailed explanation in this video.
If you are unsure about your size, please feel free to contact our stores by phone.
If you already own a pair or have been measured at one of our physical stores, your existing size should be fine.
Items needed: Paper measuring sheet, tape, pen, and a box-like object.
1. Print the paper measuring sheet (Please print on A4 paper at "actual size." If the print size is off, your measurements will be incorrect.)
2. Fold the paper measuring sheet along the "guide line" (valley fold).
3. Place a box-like object (you can use a stack of books or magazines as a substitute) against a wall, align the folded edge of the measuring sheet with it, and tape the sheet to the floor.
4. Align your heel with the "guide line," and if measuring your left foot, align the inner side of your foot along the vertical "guide line." Stand with both feet together and look straight down in a natural position. Mark the point where the longest part of your foot reaches with a pen. (Be careful not to hurt your toes.) This point represents your foot length. Leaning too far forward or putting your weight on your heels may result in choosing the wrong size.
5. Measure the other foot as well, as almost everyone has a difference between their left and right feet. Measure both feet and choose the size based on the longer one. If you are concerned about foot width or instep height, please be sure to contact us. We recommend sending a photo taken from directly above your feet. Depending on your foot width and instep, we may recommend going up or down a half-size from the size indicated by your foot length.
