This classic sneaker was born after ANATOMICA developed its own original last and produced 12 iterations of samples.
Because we prioritize fit above all else, we had not previously sold this item online. However, now that our "paper measurement sheet"—which allows you to measure your own feet at home—has been completed, it is available on our official online shop for the first time.
As indicated by the words "SCIENTIFIC SHOE FITTING" on the insole, the shoes feature the "asymmetric inside-straight, outside-curve" shape characteristic of orthopedic shoes.
The arch holds the foot, and there is extra room at the toe (known as "toe spring" or "allowance"). This creates a stress-free fit. Since these shoes have extra room, the ideal state is one where your toes do not touch the front. The perfect size is one where you feel more room at the toes than in the shoes you usually wear, while still feeling the hold on your arch.
We utilize the "vulcanized manufacturing method," which is rarely used nowadays. By bonding the canvas upper to the rubber sole with pressure rather than stitching them together, we achieve a soft, comfortable fit that feels closer to being barefoot.
※Regarding the measurement method using the "measurement sheet"
The measurement sheet is provided at the end of the product images, so please download it.
For detailed instructions on how to measure, please watch the video here.
If you are unsure about your size, we also accept inquiries by phone at each of our stores.
If you already own a pair or have been measured at one of our directly managed stores, your current size is perfectly fine.
What you need: paper measurement sheet, tape, pen, and a box-shaped object
1. Print the paper measurement sheet (please print on A4 paper at "Actual Size." If the print size is off, the measurement value will also be off.)
2. Fold the measurement sheet along the "guide line" (valley fold).
3. Place a box-shaped object (you can substitute stacked books or magazines) along a wall, align the valley-folded side of the sheet against it, and tape it to the floor.
4. Align your heel with the "guide line," and if measuring the left foot, align the inside of the left foot with the vertical "guide line." At this time, stand with your feet together, in a natural posture, looking straight down. Mark the point where the longest part of your foot reaches with a pen. (Please be careful not to hurt your toes.) This is your foot length. Leaning too far forward or putting your weight on your heels may lead to choosing the wrong size.
5. Measure the other foot as well. This is because almost everyone has a difference in size between their left and right feet. Measure both feet and choose the size based on the longer one. If you are concerned about foot width or instep height, please be sure to contact us. We recommend taking a photo from directly above and sending it with your inquiry. Depending on your foot width and instep, we may recommend shifting half a size up or down from the size indicated by the foot length.
