NORTH WORKS for ANATOMICA Exlusive Broach
NORTH WORKS POPUP is open from today.
The custom sample was completed at the last minute, but we managed to complete it successfully.
*NORTH WORKS is a brand of handmade accessories made from vintage coins, turquoise, and beads. Based in a former US military house in Fussa City, Tokyo, each piece is made by skilled artisans.
In Fussa

To prepare for the pop-up, we went to the Fussa atelier at the end of last year.
Not only the actual workshop, but every single thing, from the desks to the lamps, has been carefully crafted, and I felt that this was the source of their creativity.
At that time, I talked with Mr. Ota, the representative of NORTH WORKS, about making a special order.
ANATOMICA already offers several accessories, and after much trial and error we were able to offer them, albeit at the last minute.
When I was thinking about what to do, I took a lot of detours, but I always ended up coming back to the concept of ANATOMICA.
"Form is not decorative, but is derived from necessity."
This is true not only for clothing, but also for small accessories worn on the body.
MODEL 'A'

This is a familiar motif for ANATOMICAN.
Rather than just making it a straight line, we added some white space to balance it out.
It is composed of overlapping straight lines, and we aimed for a geometric and structural finish that is not overly decorative.
Of course, one of the reasons was that I personally wanted a bar-shaped brooch.
Ribbon bars and nameplates used in the military in the past.
It would not have looked natural to just put words there, so we expressed ANATOMICA through its structure.
MODEL'R'

Another thing I wanted to make was a hollow brooch.
This one also has plenty of white space so that the impression changes depending on what you wear underneath.
As exemplified by the 618 series, ANATOMICA aims for the "golden ratio."
Rectangles that represent the golden ratio and the beautiful circles that are created when they are connected.
By combining these elements, I created a geometric ornament.
What is a brooch?

It seems that there are fewer people wearing brooches and pin badges than people wearing rings and bangles.
Even so, the small designs that appear on your everyday clothes can quietly change the impression of your outfit.
The size is not too heavy, so it can be attached not only to jackets and sweaters but also to shirts.
It gives a new perspective to a familiar piece of clothing.
I hope you will experience its charm for the first time or once again.
