A new season doesn't begin with new designs; it begins with re-evaluating materials.
For the Fall/Winter 2026 season, ANATOMICA is proud to introduce a collection centered around its uniquely developed cotton gabardine.
This original fabric, a culmination of years of pursuing the ideal coat, combines the perfect amount of stiffness to support a beautiful silhouette, flexibility that molds to the body with wear, and water repellency.
This season, we present three outerwear pieces born from this single gabardine. While each has a different purpose and structure, they share a common philosophy at their core.
For ANATOMICA, function and beauty are not separate entities. What is it worn for? How does the body move? What kind of structure and material are needed for that? By pursuing function to its utmost, the form of the garment emerges, and that form ultimately leads to beauty. This way of thinking is crucial to understanding ANATOMICA's manufacturing.
THE CLOTH
Every garment starts with a single piece of cloth. The cotton gabardine that ANATOMICA has been producing for many years is an original fabric uniquely developed for the brand's ideal coat.
What we sought was not merely durability or functionality. It was to beautifully sculpt the roundness of the shoulders, create natural drapes at the hem, and mold to the body with wear. By using threads of different colors for the warp and weft, the fabric was also required to age beautifully over time. The gabardine had to be a fabric that could support all of this.
ANATOMICA's director, Pierre Fournier, says of the SINGLE RAGLAN, "A coat must flow beautifully when you walk." The beauty of a coat is not determined solely by how it hangs on a hanger or by its static appearance. How does the fabric drape when a person puts it on, walks, and moves their body? A coat is designed with these movements in mind.
That's why the nature of the fabric is crucial. The densely woven fabric possesses both moderate resilience and suppleness. It maintains a beautiful three-dimensional shape in areas away from the body, while gradually conforming to and tracing the wearer's unique contours where it touches the body. If the fabric were too soft, the silhouette would lose its definition. Conversely, if it were too stiff, the garment would stand away from the body and fail to follow movements. ANATOMICA's gabardine was designed to achieve a delicate balance between these two extremes.
In other words, gabardine was not a material chosen after the design was finalized. The goal was to create a coat that flowed beautifully when worn. To achieve this, we considered the necessary fabric and then designed a structure that would maximize the properties of that fabric.
Material, structure, and body movement are all interconnected.
A garment is not complete when the sewing is finished. By wearing it, through seasons and over time, the fabric gradually remembers the body, becoming a unique piece for that person. That's why ANATOMICA views fabric not merely as a material, but as the very foundation supporting the garment's structure.
This year, we have expressed this material in three different forms.
SINGLE RAGLAN I
An iconic piece from ANATOMICA
SINGLE RAGLAN I is ANATOMICA's signature coat and the most symbolic representation of the brand's craftsmanship.
Its distinctive single-raglan sleeve was not adopted merely for its unusual construction. It is a design intended to create a natural and beautiful silhouette on anyone, regardless of shoulder width or physique.
By eliminating the shoulder seam and constructing the shoulder and sleeve from one large piece, the fabric flows effortlessly over the body, naturally conforming to each individual's shoulder shape. This silhouette is supported by the moderate resilience of the original gabardine. It maintains a three-dimensional shape at the shoulders while smoothly draping downwards towards the hem. And with every step, the large A-line hem sways with the body's movement, creating new lines.
The "beautifully flowing coat when walking" that Pierre sought cannot be achieved by the single-raglan sleeve structure alone, nor by the gabardine material alone. Body, structure, material. The silhouette of the SINGLE RAGLAN is completed when these three elements come together.
This season, in addition to the classic BEIGE and NAVY, a new color, OYSTER, has been introduced. It is not a color to compete for vibrancy, but a new choice designed to more richly reflect the shadows and three-dimensionality created by the gabardine.
SINGLE RAGLAN X
A New Interpretation
The new SINGLE RAGLAN X is a new model that reinterprets vintage trench coats from ANATOMICA's perspective.
The original trench coat features a unique structure with a significantly overlapping front panel that wraps around the body with a belt. ANATOMICA combined this with the single-raglan sleeve concept.
The fabric flows naturally from shoulder to sleeve, and the deeply overlapping front panel maintains a beautiful three-dimensional quality due to the gabardine's moderate stiffness. The moment the belt is cinched, that stiffness transforms into soft drapes, creating rich expressions that adapt to the body's movements.
In the structure of a wrap coat, fabric selection is particularly important. A fabric that is too stiff would make the overlapping front panels too bulky. Conversely, if it were too soft, it would bunch around the body, losing the strong silhouette inherent in the trench coat. Here again, the balance of stiffness and suppleness in ANATOMICA's gabardine proves its worth. The gabardine naturally connects the strength of the trench coat with the lightness characteristic of a single-raglan sleeve, two elements that might seem contradictory.
VAN NUYS JACKET
Another Lightweight Expression
Even with the same gabardine, the appearance of the fabric changes with its intended use. The new VAN NUYS JACKET is a piece rooted in classic golf jackets.
Garments born from sports like golf, which involve extensive body movement, required functionality that wouldn't hinder that movement. Raglan sleeves for easy shoulder movement. A shorter length that doesn't impede action. A relaxed fit to accommodate body motion. And ribbed cuffs that keep the hem close to the body while leaving room for movement in the upper body. Each detail was not added as an embellishment, but arose from its purpose. And the accumulation of these functions creates the VAN NUYS JACKET's characteristic rounded silhouette.
The gabardine that flowed vertically in the coat transforms into a three-dimensional shape that envelops the body in this jacket. Even with the same material, if the required function changes, the design changes, and so do the silhouette, movement, and comfort. This is not just because the fabric is excellent, but because it is designed with an understanding of its properties. The VAN NUYS JACKET can be said to be the most agile expression of the potential of gabardine as a material.

Their forms and purposes differ. However, their design starting point is common: understanding the material and considering the structure in which that material functions most beautifully.
In an article featuring ANATOMICA PARIS this year, Charles Nousse of the Paris team described the brand by saying, *"The function of clothing and shoes creates their form, and that form determines their beauty."* These words succinctly capture ANATOMICA's long-standing approach to craftsmanship. For ANATOMICA, design is not about adding embellishments. It is about considering the purpose of a garment, pursuing the necessary functions, and selecting the appropriate materials and structure. It is about finding beauty in the form that results from this process.
While respecting vintage, it's not about merely replicating past forms, but deciphering the reasons behind their existence and continuing to create with materials and designs that can be inherited by future generations.
